Winter Layers

With winter here in full swing layering is a must! My personal favorite way to add layers is to start with a cozy sweater and throw over it a vest and warm blanket scarf. I look to add a pop of color in either the vest or scarf to make the outfit more exciting, and this outfit does just that! I have worn this outfit a lot recently! It is a simple go to outfit that is comfortable, warm, and stylish! It is perfect for this time of year since the layers add extra warmth. I love how the gold buttons on the pockets give it a more polished look and dress the outfit up. I've had this sweater for years and I wear it all the time! It goes with everything and is perfect for layering under or over! It is for sure one of my winter staples!  I have seen this scarf everywhere this year and have had my eye on it for months, so when I saw it at Walmart for under $10 I just had to buy it! It is extremely versatile since it incorporates so many colors and is super cozy and warm!  ...

Keeping Warm on Cold Winter Days

With temperatures being below zero the last week, keeping warm is a necessity! The cold weather is also a perfect opportunity to get a lot of wear out of thick sweaters and big blanket scarves.  I love this blanket scarf! It is extreemly warm and cozy! It also goes with a lot, which is an extra bonus! The mix of pattern and color is a perfect addition for this look.  For Christmas I received 3 adorable watches (the silver one in the picture included) and I am in love with them! They go with everything and were extremely inexpensive at Joann's! During the summer I wear my running watch all the time with my casual clothes, so I was excited to be able to wear watches with my dressier outfits!  These boots from Charlotte Ruse are my current favorites! They are so comfortable and the beige color allows for them to go with anything!  Outfit Details Sweater: American Eagle (old purchase) Scarf: Forever 21 Leggings: Forever 21 Boots: Charolate Russe ...

Playing in the Snow

For the first significant snowfall of the winter, I was more than just a little bit excited to wear this red hat I had recently purchased! Since the fresh snow was just so perfect, I just had to put on some layers and go outside to play in it! Even though it was chilly out, this outfit kept me nice and warm!  This super warm wool sweater is one of my winter favorites! I love the way that it adds a bright pop of color to the outfit and keeps me super cozy and warm too!   These are my favorite mittens! They go with nearly everything and are super warm and functional since the top of the fingers can fold back to make them more like gloves.  I had been looking for a winter hat for a long time when I was doing some shopping downtown and ran across this adorable  red hat! It is unbelievably warm and fuzzy on the inside and I am kind of obsessed with it!  Outfit Details: Shirt: Old Navy Sweater: Younkers (Old Purchase)  Jeans: Ameri...

The Reason for the Season

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 Merry Christmas! Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year! I love the holidays so much because of the extra time spent with family and friends, baking, giving to others, the cheeriness, and the reason we celebrate Christmas, Jesus' birth. It never ceases to amaze me that Jesus would humble himself as a baby and be born into the world to save us. His love for us is so incredible and  mind blowing. My hope for you today, is that as you open your presents and enjoy time with family, that you will take a few moments to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas and the true reason for the season.  For today's look, I'm showing you my Christmas day outfit! I love how this outfit is dressy, yet still comfortable. I found this skirt on B...

A Festive Holiday Look

Tis the season for Christmas parties, events, and celebrations! With Christmas fast approaching there will be several occasions that I will be needing a holiday look. For Christmas events I like to incorporate red and green into my look for a festive feel.  Here is a look I have put together for casual holiday events that incorporates some green with a pop of red.   I started off with a green toned tunic and paired it with the vest to add interest and warmth to the look. This vest from Old Navy is one of my favorites since it can be paired so many different ways and is perfect for the holiday season to add to any look!                To give some shape to the look I decided to add a small black and gold belt to give some definition to my waist. For my jewelry I decided to go with this black and gold necklace from Francesca's and pair it with  pearl...
