Winter Texture

Winter can be a fun but sometimes difficult season to dress for. All of the dark colors can easily become overpowering and come together to make a look boring and drab. Adding texture to an outfit is the perfect solution to this dilemma.  For the center of this outfit I chose a pretty grey, marbled sweater to add texure and interest to the look. Paired with a big blanket scarf, perfect for adding warmth, and some lightly washed distressed jeans, this outfit incorporates all of the darker tones typical of winter months, with a bit of additional color and texture to keep it from being boring.
This layed back look is perfect for days when you want to look put together without putting too in much effort. One of my favorite go-to outfit combinations in the winter months is a sweater, vest, blanket scarf, jeans, and some booties. An extra bonus is that all of the layers are sure to keep you nice and toasty even on cold snowy days!

I love the texture of this sweater! I have had it for years now and it seriously goes with everything! The grey and black tones woven into the sweater make it the perfect staple piece for a winter wardrobe.

My favorite way to add a subtle pop of color to a look is with a bright lip and nail color. My current favorite is wearing bright red lipstick and nailpolish.
For my accessories I decided to keep them simple and subtle by stacking a few rings on my fingers and adding a set of pearl earring studs from H&M.

One Skirt: Four Ways

Francesca's is a dangerous store for me to go in to. Over spring break I went into Francesca's to just try on a possible graduation dress and ended up with a dress, skirt, and top- oops! Needless to say, I'm kind of obsessed with this skirt- it's so pretty and feminine! I love the colors and how easy it is to style. In today's post I will be sharing four ways to style this skirt. I am just obsessed with this skirt! The floral detailing is so pretty and feminine. Honestly I felt like it was a little out of my traditional comfort zone, but I decided to go for it! This tank is one of the tops I walked out of Francesca's with. The pink matched the colors in the skirt too perfectly to pass up! I purchased this lace top from LOFT last spring and I have found SO many different ways to style it! It pairs so nicely with this skirt and you can wear it tucked in or out-whatever best fits your preference. I personally like to tu...

Trip to Texas Tulips

Spring is here and what better way to celebrate than to make a trip to a tulip farm! Tulip’s are one of my favorite flowers, so visiting the rows of tulip’s put me in my happy place! The day we went was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, so lots of people had the same idea as us to head on out there. Even though it was crowed, the tulips still looked amazing and didn’t look picked over at all! I thought I would share with you all today some pictures from my trip to Texas Tulips, as well as some details about how I wore my overalls! I was literally in my happy place here! The tulip's were beautiful and the weather was absolutely perfect! This hat from Target is the cutest thing ever! It's super versitile and I wore it a lot while I was down in Texas! To make it even better, the ribbon makes a little bow on the side!  These overalls are a favortie of mine this spring and I love that they have made a comeback! Growing up I used to wear them all the time! These black overalls are...

The Perfect Autumn Cape

Last year I hopped on the cape bandwagon, and I am so glad I did. Similar to blanket scarves, they are just like socially acceptable blankets.  An added bonus is that they are super cute too! I saw a red and black buffalo checked cape in a picture last fall and searched all winter for a look-alike! Finally, a few weeks ago at Walmart, of all places, I spotted this one! I scored it for under $15 and was a happy girl! Here's how I styled it and how you can get the look! I started by layering the cape with a simple white shirt to brighten up the outfit. Between the warmth of the shirt underneath and the cape itself, this look was perfect for a gorgeous fall day. I paired the tops with my go-to American Eagle jeans, to keep the outfit simple and comfortable.   Since I am so short, a lot of material can easily swallow me up and create a very boxy shape. With this in mind, I added a simple tan belt around my waist to give the cape some shape. I was feeling extr...
